Critical Thinking and Structured Analysis in a Zero-Trust World
Speakers IS2 2026
Jeff Bardin
The cybersecurity landscape of the mid2020s has undergone a fundamental shift, and traditional defense models are no longer effective. Attackers no longer rely solely on technical skills, but exploit defenders' rapidly shrinking reaction times. The IS2 2026 conference in Prague highlights the urgency of the situation with its theme “No Time to Lose.”
Reactive security approaches based on signatures, perimeters, and the classic incident response now fail against adversaries using AI-driven adaptation, cognitive manipulation, and “Dead Man’s Switches”. A new approach requires combining Zero Trust principles with Structured Analytic Techniques (SATs).
This fusion enables predictive intelligence capable of anticipating an attacker’s moves before technical IoCs appear. The shift represents a move from deterministic thinking to a probabilistic model of security.
Research into vulnerabilities in the Czech healthcare and energy sectors fits within the requirements of the NIS2 Directive and the Cyber Resilience Act. Jeff emphasizes that Zero Trust must be understood not only as an architecture but also as an analytical mindset. Intelligence tradecraft techniques such as ACH, CARM, and DUM help structurally evaluate risks and adversary reactions.
The result is a shift from the mindset of “assuming breach” to one of “preempting breach”. Predictive defense is becoming essential for the future of both European and global cybersecurity.
