Ondřej Filip graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague, majoring in Informatics, and the University of Pittsburgh - Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business (MBA).While studying at Charles University, he started working at IPEX a. s., where he later served as Technical Director and member of the Board of Directors.
Since December 2004, Ondřej has been the Executive Director of the CZ.NIC association.In addition to his position at CZ.NIC, he serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NIX.CZ peering point and also as Chairman of the Board of Directors of RIPE NCC, which is the IP address registry for Europe, the Middle East and post-communist countries.Ondřej is also the so-called “Internet Root Zone Key Holder” or Trusted Community Representative at the highest Internet administrator ICANN/IANA.
In the past, Ondřej has also led other organizations dealing with Internet infrastructure such as Euro-IX, DNS OARC and has been an active member of the Country Code Names Support Organization or the Security and Stability Advisory Committee within ICANN.He also participated in the Multistakeholder Advisory Group, which is an advisory body to the UN Secretary-General for the Internet Governance Forum. Since 2019, Ondřej Filip has been a member of the Cybersecurity Hall of Fame, which represents personalities who have significantly or long-term positively influenced cybersecurity in the Czech Republic.
In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball or programming open source software.Ondřej speaks fluent English and can also communicate in German and Russian.
